Interlock Removal:

WILL I GET AN INTERLOCK?

Interlocks are required by law for the following offenders:

  • First time p-plate offenders and those under the age of 26 with blood alcohol readings over .07% for offences committed after December 31, 2006
  • First time offenders with blood alcohol readings of .15% or more
  • Repeat offenders will incur a 6-12 month minimum interlock period if their second and most recent offence involved a blood alcohol reading of less than .15%
  • Repeat offenders will incur a 3-4 year minimum interlock period if they have committed more than 2 offences within a 10 year period or their second offences involved a blood alcohol reading of .15% or more.

Interlock may be imposed for the following offenders:

  • First time offenders with blood alcohol readings of between .07% and .15%

HOW DO I GET AN INTERLOCK REMOVED?

The process for interlock removal is much the same as for licence restoration:

  • Inform your interlock supplier who will be doing the interlock assessment
  • Book in for an interlock removal hearing at a Magistrates Court
  • Undergo interlock assessment with our agency (click here to make a booking)
  • Attend interlock removal hearing
